    About the Grower

Hi, I'm Rob Nissen. My love of gardening started with keeping chickens. Composting their manure led to a garden to use the compost, and that garden grew into a passion for turning a piece of ground into a thriving ecosystem full of life.

Living in a hot climate in Western Colorado gave me a love for peppers and other hot weather crops. What I enjoy most is watching an area transform through soil building into a thriving oasis in a desert landscape.

At Desert Mesa Gardens, the guiding principle is simple: support the life in the soil, and the soil feeds the plants. No chemical or synthetic fertilizers.
